Farm

The farm “Podere Giulio” is directly managed by Pierluigi , the older of three young brothers, who has twenty-year old experience in the agricultural field ; in fact since ha was a child , he followed “step-by-step” his grandfather Pietro Rosati , an old farmer , who has a over sixty-years activity , by which he has inherited this farm situated in locality “Fontanil della Torre” , which besides the WHEAT production (about 10 ha) , supplies the farm with a very good olive-oil , made by 250 olive trees.

 

But the real force of the farm “Podere Giulio”, is the production of vegetables , in fact the young farmer is busy every year in the cultivation of 40 ha of land with irriguous possibility , which helps the production of biological vegetables as:

- TOMATOES 12ha at year
- CUCOMBERS 10ha at year
- MELONS 2ha at year
- ARTICHOKES
- ASPARAGUSES
- FENNELS
- MARROWS
- AUBERGINES
- PEPPERS
- POTATOES

More than 2ha of biological garden , which satisfies the farm’s needs.

Breeding

The rest of the land (5ha) is cultivated as erbarium which satisfies the BREEDING’s necessity of the farm.
That is directed by the father of the three brothers Serafini Giovanni , who makes a meticulous work in the NATURE ’s respect.

 

 

 

 


Pasture

An uncontaminated land , where the animals still live in the nature ;an ancient agriculture , but up-to-date, where the nourishment of live-stock is like in the old days : this is the MAREMMA, not for our breeders’ choice but for the natural plenty and quality of fodders’ production in this land , where the strong colours of the plain are mixed with the weaker colours of the sweet and verdant hills of meadows and greasing ground.

Life goes by quite as if the time wouldn’t have passed and the today’s farmers have got the same old-fashioned methods and customs , which now seem passed.

 (which offer to the restaurant a substantial number of lambs every year)

 (which offer to the restaurant a substantial number of porks every year)
- QUAILS
- HENS
 (They supply eggs for our pasta made exclusively by hand)

An old peasant abode of ours , under reconstruction where new residences will be prepared.
